TaqMan buffer

I hope that my message does not cause too much discontent amongst certain
interested parties, but I need to ask the following question to assist with
a research programme that uses PE TaqMan via an ABI Prism 7700. To date
all the development of our TaqMan procedures make use of Perkin-Elmer
TaqMan probes and their 2x Master Mix. The reagents are working extremely
well, no compliants - it is the price that is causing me concern. There
exists other facilities from whom TaqMan probes can be ordered at a cost
saving, but the 2 x Master Mix is not such an easy problem to circumvent as
the buffer possesses an internal ROX- derived reference of unknown nature.

Can anyone suggest a way to side-step the use of the 2 x Master Mix while
retaining a means of internal reference?
