Dear Russ:
I suggest to contact Joe Leykam at Michigan State (571 355-4755) who
runs the ABI alkylation C-terminal chemistry. Another source is Ken
Graham at City of Hope (626 357-9711 x 2601) who offers service using a
substantially improved version of the method worked out by Bailey
several years ago. Both the ABI and City of Hope chemistries can provide
extended sequence information of up to 14 residues with 1-2 nanomoles of
sample (average # of residues: 4-6). Commonwealth Biotechnology, Inc.
(1-800 735 9224) offers C-terminal sequencing service using the
carboxypeptidase ladder approach at the nanomole level and also the
current Hewlett-Packard method that provides sequence information from
both termini. From the HP data so far shown is is apparent that
C-terminal information obtainable with this method is limited to 3
residues at best hence being useful for assessment of processed
C-termini.
I hope this info is of help.
Heinz

I have been asked to get some information from protein sequencing
facilities in ABRF land regarding C-terminal sequencing.
1.Who offers C-terminal sequencing as a service?
2.How long have you been offering this service?
3.What do you charge for this service?
4.Which instrument do you use?
5.What is the longest sequencing run you have done?
6.What is the smallest amount of sample you have successfully run?
Thanks in advance
Russ Henry
