The Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research Division has an exciting
opportunity in Ann Arbor, Michigan at its research headquarters for an
Analytical Biochemist, who has a strong interest in analytical methods
to characterize protein structure. The successful incumbent will
contribute to proteome analysis and structural characterization of
proteins and post-translational modifications at Parke-Davis as part of
an interdisciplinary effort. This position is responsible also for
exploring and developing novel analytical technology suitable for
protein characterization. Current methodologies utilized include mass
spectrometry, protein sequencing by Edman chemistry, micro-sample
handling and separations (microbore & capillary chromatography,
capillary electrophoresis, and gel electrophoresis), peptide mapping,
and amino acid analysis.

The requirements for this position include: (1) Ph.D. in Biochemistry,
Chemistry or related field with minimum of 3-5 years pharmaceutical
research experience; (2) analytical biochemistry research experience in
protein characterization methods such as protein sequencing, gel
electrophoresis, and HPLC; and (3) experience with modern methods of
mass spectrometry, micro-sample handling and separation techniques, and
(4) analysis of proteins from 2D gels is highly desirable.
