We are presently seeking postdoctoral associates with experience in any
combination of the following areas: (1) NMR and CD spectroscopy; (2) peptide
and/or organic synthesis and mass spectrometry; or (3) cell biology. Our
research focuses on two main topics. The first is understanding the mechanisms
of tumor cell invasion of the basement membrane, which leads to metastasis (the
spread of cancer). The second is the design of novel biomaterial surfaces to
improve biomaterial biocompatibility. Both projects involve multiple components
including synthesis, structural characterization, and functional studies.

Our laboratory is fairly well equipped with a peptide synthesizer, protein
sequencer, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer, spectropolarimeter (for CD studies),
fluorimeter, several HPLCs, laminar flow hood, incubator, plate reader, etc. In
addition, our department has recently acquired a new 500 MHz NMR spectrometer,
and possesses ample shared instrumentation, such as centrifuges, scintillation
counters, phosphorimagers, X-ray developers, etc. The University has an
enrollment of 40,000 students and is located in Boca Raton (about 40 miles north
of Miami and 3 miles from the Atlantic Ocean).

The positions will be two year appointments. Salary is negotiable based on
qualifications. Please send a copy of your curriculum vitae to the address given
below or via e-mail.

Sincerely,

Gregg B. Fields, Ph.D.
