Dear ABRF:
In case anyone is interested - a new version of Lutefisk97 has been
posted on the Lutefisk website
(http://www.lsbc.com:70/Lutefisk97.html). Lutefisk97 attempts to
perform de novo peptide sequence interpretations of low energy CID
tandem mass spectra obtained from triple quads or ion traps. The
output is a list of ten or fewer candidate sequences that can be used
to search protein or nucleotide sequence databases using a version of
FASTA (called CIDentify, available at the FASTA site) that has been
modified to account for the peculiarities of mass spec-derived peptide
sequences. Executables for Windows and Mac are available. The source
code can also be downloaded and we've been able to implement the
program on DEC and Sun flavors of UNIX.
