G3 printing problem

We use a G3 computer to print out the electropherograms from DNA
sequencing. The G3 is crashing too many times (up to 12 times in 2 hours)
and it really is a pain. The error that keeps coming up is a printmonitor
error. We are running mac os 8.1 and the new version of sequencing
analysis. We have the virtual memory off and have 64 megs of ram, which I
will upgrade to 128 when the new memory comes in. This problem never
occurred when we use a Power mac 7300. Has anyone else experienced this
printing problem.
