The Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities Protein Sequence
Research Committee invites you to participate in its 12th study of
methods in protein sequence analysis. ABRF members are eligible to receive
a sample from the committee. These samples are designed to assist labs in
evaluating their ability to obtain amino acid sequence data, and to educate
our members about currently available techniques. The data obtained is
published in an anonymous format describing the current capabilities in
protein sequencing. If you are not a member of the ABRF but wish to join,
visit the web page at: http://www.abrf.org/. So that your membership will
be active in time to participate in this study we suggest you either join
electronically or FAX in your membership form.

The sample this year will consist of a mixture of a peptide and a protein
in the five to ten picomole range. It is designed to be compatible with
analysis by mass spectrometry, Edman degradation or a combination of both.
Suggestions for methods to sort out the peptide and protein sequences will
be included. Samples will be distributed upon receipt of your e-mail and
results should be postmarked by December 1st.

Be aware that current ABRF members have already received a letter offering
this sample. Please do NOT send a duplicate request. Please limit your
request to one sample per laboratory.

To request a sample, send an e-mail to lsteinke@molbio.unmc.edu, listing
Protein Sequence Research Committee Sample in the subject line (or simply
reply to this e-mail). Include in the body of the message your mailing
address, in a form suitable for printing, cutting, and taping directly onto
an envelope. We look forward to hearing from you!
