Hi Ioannis and others,
Yes, we use pressurized air pumps for two of our SpeedVacs. They don't give
fantastic vacuum, but more than enough for removal of HPLC solvents,
especially if they contain some organics. The main advantage is that they
are more or less maintenance free (contain no moving parts) and one
doensn't need to have cold- or acid-traps.
