Oil free pumps are great ! We offer several systems that are built around
this technology. The caveat is the end pressure of the pumps tends to be ~
10 torr ( 6 Mbar) and at that level the residue solvent content of the
sample may be to high for post extraction work. If the solvent set you are
working with are low boilers then the diaphragm pump may work just fine. Oh
by the way, an additional trade off with a diaphragm pump is drying time.
The mass transport that occurs in the drying cycle is directly related to
the pressure differential between the sample and the source of low pressure
( the pump in this case ) so a longer drying time is expected.
