I have just purchased an ABI 310 for sequencing and was told by my PE rep
that I could save money by buying a printer myself. I just found out that
the HP1600CM, which is normally sold (at a very high price) with the 310 by
PE, and which I thought I could get for less at Office Depot or somewhere,
has been discontinued by HP.

I would like to hear from others about which printer I might substitute.
The printer needs to be color, Mac-compatible and Postscript. Epson says
that their Stylus Color 850 with the Adobe Postscript Level 2 software
(C842331) will work (and ABI thinks this will work also), but I am
concerned about ppm print speed for color, especially for sequencing traces.

Does anyone have a better suggestion, or experience with this? I am
especially interested in what sorts of print speed you are observing with
your alternative system if it is used for sequencing.
