The MS/MS course taught by Don Hunt and organized by the ABRF MS research
group has more than 50 pre-registrants. While the official deadline is at
the beginning of February, ABRF members are being given priority until the
first of the year. Don't be shy! Whether you are a lab director or a
staff scientist, this is an excellent course. It also gives you the time
away from your distracting daily activities to focus on perfecting your
skills. It's not just lectures, there is homework (that's a good thing).
A lot of the learning comes from working together with each other in the
evenings, with a pencil, calculator, and a beer or other beverage of
choice. Those who have signed up already should not worry. Notifications
haven't been returned yet. This is a good time to thank Murray Hackett and
the members of the MS group for working hard to provide us all with this
opportunity.
The official abstract deadline for ABRF'99 in Durham was last Friday.
While 137 abstracts were received, there was a glitch on our part. If you
missed the deadline, our office will still take them electronically or by
paper until the end of this week. There is room for more presentations,
and we would all like to see what you're working on.
Mark Lively and David Landsmann have worked hard to organize an excellent
program, with that special mix of cutting edge and practical technical
sessions that makes our meetings so useful. Thanks to both of them, too.
See you in Durham in springtime.
