Ioannis,

What, no power backup? Why not take care of the voltage with a UPS? We
use a Best Power (http://bestpower.net) 7KVA/5KW FERRUPS UPS system to boost
from 208V to 120V/240V. It also takes care of the voltage sages on hot summer
days (the incoming voltage once dropped to 185V here). As a side note, 208V
coming into the building is 230V minus 10%, but it is very common for the
outlets in most labs to be around 200-205V.

I have a question for those in the U.S. who have Finnigan LCQ ion traps: The
LCQ preinstallation guide for LCQ specifies single phase 230 V ac (+ or -
10%). Since our building (and, I suspect, most buildings) can supply nominal
208 V ac, a booster transformer is needed. I would appreciate information
from people who have bought such transformers with specifics, i.e.
manufacturer, model #, contact information. Thanks.
