Ioannis-
We ran into the same problem with our Bruker MALDI. We are running
it on a Best UPS, like Steve Tindall does with his unspecified equipment,
but at 208 volt. When we checked out the vacuum pumps after the unit was
here, they are speced at using 208-230 volt. The manufacturers of such
equipment are AWFULLY careless in providing help on this issue. Our campus
electricians say the only place you find 220-230 is in households. What we
get in this building is 3 phase 208, 208 divided by square root of three
gives 120 V, what you get between any two legs of a 3 phase 208 volt
system. Apparently the voltage does not really matter to the electronics,
only to motors, and if they are happy at 208 you are OK.
