RW Johnson PRI is one of the research arms of Johnson & Johnson. Our
facility is located in San Diego, Ca and exists mainly to supply new
pharmaceutical targets for Johnson & Johnson. We are seen as the very
beginning of the pipeline for new J&J products. This is as close as it gets
to basic research in industry. We identify possible new targets and then
they are handed off to the bigger facilities back east to scale up and do
more work on. This facility will never even file an IND, we don't come that
close to the process. They are desperate to get warm bodies in here,
because they know that getting that many people on such short notice will be
difficult. They want to hit the ground running as soon as the facility
opens and we are already maxxed out (i.e., packed to the gills) here
already.
