I'm in the market for a prep LC for purifying 0.25 - 1.0 mmole scale
syntheses of short peptides, and have narrowed it down to the following:
1. a Varian Prostar 210/215 pump with 320 detector and dual path (1-10mm)
flowcell, or a dual wavelenth detector with 3mm fixed pathlength.
2. a Waters Delta 600 system with dual wavelenth 2487 detector and fixed
3mm flowcell
or single wavelenth detector and adjustable pathlength flowcell
(0-3mm).
Do you think I'd really need less than 3mm pathlength for 50-100 mg sample
sizes, or would having a dual wavelength detector and a 3mm path suffice.
To have both dual wavelength and 1mm pathlength, I'd need to get the Waters
system. Is it worth the extra money?
Any ideas or opinions on either of these systems or their components (aside
from those of Waters or Varian Reps or their competitors) would be
appreciated.
Thanks,
