Research Associate II/III Staff Position
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will prepare samples and mobile phases, set up and
run
flow field-flow fractionation (flow FFF) and chromatographic analyses for
proteins
and particles using online light-scattering technology, process and analyze
the results,
incorporate these results into reports and presentations, and maintain and
troubleshoot
several chromatography systems. This person will also, from time to time,
assist in the
design of experiments and evaluate new separation technologies, including
channels
and columns, instruments, detectors, and software.
Experience
The ideal candidate should have at least two years experience with the
chromatography
or fractionation of proteins and/or other macromolecules. Experience with
flow FFF,
static or dynamic light scattering, or liquid chromatography (especially
SEC) are highly
desirable. Experience developing and validating analytical LC methods in a
regulated
pharmaceutical environment would also be a plus.
Skills
The ideal candidate should possess a good working knowledge of modern HPLC
and/or
flow FFF instrumentation, including the design and assembly of modern
fluidics
systems, and be familiar with modern Windows-based chromatography software
packages, including HP ChemStation. Strong mechanical aptitude, PC and
networking
skills, a working knowledge of electronics, and good interpersonal and
communication
skills are also highly desirable.
Education
The ideal candidate should possess a B.S. or M.S. in chemistry,
biochemistry, or a
related field, with a significant concentration on separation science,
preferably flow
FFF or liquid chromatography, as well as relevant coursework and laboratory
experience in spectroscopy, biochemistry, and physical chemistry.
