RE: Protein expression planning meeting at ABRF'99?

Dr. Chin,
I had not planned to attend the ABRF 99 meeting, but I'm still
thinking about going after all. My lab is starting a recombinant protein
purification service. We believe that this will be a very important service
supporting X-ray crystallography, Biacore, and mass spec. We are on our
first project right now, using it as a "test case" for how we will provide
this service in the future. We have had a lot of discussion about the
various advantages and possible pitfalls of providing such a service. There
were many many questions posed and pondered. One question was "will we open
a flood gate of projects" by offering this service? and can we handle this
on top of all the DNA sequencing, mass spec, etc.. My answer to that was
that if that happens, then it will just show that we are on the mark with
respect to targeting a service that is really needed and one that could be
very appreciated by investigators. I am very excited about this. If you
would like to arrange anything related to this at the ABRF meeting, I will
definitely change my plans so that I can be there. Otherwise, I might also
like to come visit you. I have several meetings planned in St. Louis in the
near future. One is an ABI user's meeting on March 21/March 22. I would be
love to take an extra day and drive over to meet you one afternoon. Please
stay in touch. Thanks!

Greetings to Scottie, Jeanne, John and others,
How about meeting at ABRF'99 meeting to discuss starting or
restarting a protein expression section?

David

John also expressed interest in getting together. His address is:

Hi David

Seeing your name and Jeanne Perry's reminded me that we were
thinking of trying to get some Protein expression people together at
ABRF'99. What do you think???
