Like a couple of the other respondants, I too have found urea to be
very good for re-folding, and in many situations better than
guanidine. I don't know why that should be, but I would suggest urea
to be worth a try. I often did stepwise reduction in urea
concentrations: 8 M dialyze against 6 M, then dialyze against 4 M,
then 2 M then lots of 0 M.
