Hello all, I currently do monosaccharide analysis using the Dionex system. I have only been at this about a year and a half but here is my input. Yes there is variability but one has to be able to distinguish from sample variability and system variability. There is some inherent variability depending on how the protein is produced. I have seen great reductions in my variability as my technique has improved and the production conditions have been optimized. Then determine how much is too much. We have repeatedly looked at alternate methods of analysis and so far we are happy with the Dionex system. I currently perform quantitative sialic acid and monosaccharide analysis. The main differences I have found in choosing Dionex over the gel fluorescent tagged method or the RP-fluorescent tag method is training curve and money needed to start up. Also how best to meet the needs of your lab. We feel we get more bang for our buck with the Dionex system. Kelly Cass-Samodral
