How do you know it is a 34mer? By sizing on gel or capillary
electrophoresis? If so, you may be observing a hairpin-folded form which
migrates at an apparently smaller size than it really is. Have you checked
the Chimer for self-complementary sequences? Did your instrument trityl
detector suggest the product was OK in manufacture? A mass would help but
I've never seen anything this big on maldi, although there are examples on
the literature on some of the top range mass specs.
