Director of Functional Genomics
W. M. Keck Center for Comparative and Functional Genomics, University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Proposed
Starting Date July 12, 1999
Responsibilities The successful candidate will establish a
functional genomics unit of 2-4 persons dedicated to linking gene sequence
to function in microbial, plant and animal systems. He/she will work
independently to develop new methods for differential gene expression and
conduct computational analysis of sequence data. This position will
require the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment
and to supervise undergraduate students and technical staff.
Qualifications M.S. or Ph.D. in molecular or cell biology or related field
with at least 3 years of laboratory experience is required. Demonstrated
expertise in a wide array of molecular biology techniques related to gene
cloning and analysis of differential gene expression is essential. The
candidate should have a solid background in DNA and protein database
searches and computational methods. Experience utilizing microarray
technologies is highly desirable. Excellent communication, supervisory and
managerial skills required.
Type of Position
and Salary Full time, 12 month regular academic professional
position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
