I don't have this instrument in the lab currently, but I did have one on demo
for about a month a few years ago. If they had had at that time a lid which
tightened to seal the wells for oil-free PCR's, I would have purchased at
least one. What impressed me was that the quality of the genotypes produced
by the instrument was every bit as good as the expensive machines, but it was
cheap! I don't know what they look like now, but then the body was not very
fancy--sort of sheet metal screwed together--but it was fast and very accurate
on the temp and produced beautiful genotypes. We just didn't want to go back
to using oil!
