Last year I put out 2 separate requests for electrospray users to forward
to me details of proteins they had analysed, with a view to building (in my
view) a much needed database of mass standards which can be used for MALDI.
I had two replies. My thanks to those people, but 2 entries does not make a
database.
I firmly believe that the information is out there somewhere. What I
cannot understand is the reluctance of ES labs to share the information.
For us MALDI users, who scrabble about to find relevant standards, this
information is utterly invaluable, and many of us do not have ES to be able
to check potential standards.
So PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help get this database started if you can. For
obvious reasons, commercially available proteins are preferred, but at this
stage I'd be grateful for anything! Mass range 18-60kDa is probably the
most needed.
