Allison,
I have never done that kind of analysis myself, but I have enclosed several
references which may be helpful:
1. Tomoko Hayashi.....
A Method for Identifying.....
Anal. Biochem. 209, 163-168 (1993)
2. Stanley Lam....
Stereoselective D- and L- Amino Acid....
J. Chromatogr. 289 (1984) 339-345
3. H. Bruckner....
Liquid chromatographic determination of D- and L- amino acids.....
J. Chromatogr. 666 (1994) 259-273
4. First author and (beginning of the) title as #3
J.Chromatogr. 711 (1995) 201-215

Unfortunately I do not know if there is a contract lab doing that kind of
work (it may well be - my information is limited)
Blood/plasma samples will contain more different AA than protein
hydrolysates (so called free amino acids). Since you need D-Alanine only,
some of the methods referenced above (or your own method) may do the job.
