Allison,
I have had good results with distinguishing D- and L-amino acids by
LC-MS after derivatization with Marfey's reagent (see DR Goodlett et
al., Peptide chiral purity determination: hydrolysis in deuterated
acid, derivatization with Marfey's reagent and analysis using
high-performance liquid chromatography - electrospray ionization mass
spectrometry, Journal of Chromatography A, 707 (1995) 233-244).
Best regards,

I am trying to find a lab that could analyze blood/plasma samples (cattle/sheep)
or D-alanine. Is it possible to distinguish D-alanine from L-alanine in a
sample? We have a procedure for D-alanine analysis in bacteria would it work on
blood samples also? I would appreciate any suggestions or help in this
matter. Thank You.
