RE: Used peptide synthesizers

We have an older Milligen 9500 that we use in a semi-automated
mode, although it is fully capable of automated running...I just
don't trust it... :-)
It works great as a 'washing machine' but...the software that is
used to run it is not Y2K. Also we were using an old 80286/10mhz
computer to run it...the hard drive died and we had a heck of a
time slowing down a 80486/16mhz enough to run the software. Once
that was done, the instrument continues to work great.
I think that there is a company in CA that supports the older
Milligens i.e. software and parts, if anyone else knows the name of
that company they can forward it to you. There is NO software
update for these machines as far as I know so you'll probably have
to set the date on your 'puter back a couple of years to avoid Y2K
probs.

We are looking for a used synthesizer and heard about a Milligen
9600- does anyone know much about this machine and how robust it
is? Any bad experiences? Any recommendations? Also I would love
to hear about peoples experiences with the Perseptive(ABI)
pioneer./thx
