we also had similar problems with our 470. We also have asked for the
possibility to use an external computer but the answer was that one can not
use the programs also because they are written for the touch screen and
nobody could tell me which botton on the screen is which command on a
keyboard. However, we have successfuly replaced the hard disc on both, the
470 and the 477 by other models than the original ones. We put in a model
ST-251 (I guess it is 40 Mb) from Seagate (probably not available anymore).
We had to play a bit with the formatting but finally we got it to work.
