Glucose monitoring

Has anyone used blood glucose monitors to monitor the glucose levels in
tissue culture media? If you did, were the measurements all relative to
unused medium or were you able to generate a standard curve and get
quantitative results? Thanks for any input. It seems like it would be much
quicker and easier than measuring lactate production.
