Problems with "fade-out" has been around for years but I have yet to hear
a plausible explanation.
I have been using 373/377 for nearly 5 years, I always hand wash (no
gloves) with alconox/Hot Water/De-ionised. I rarely spend more than 1-2
minutes per plate and have never ever had any problems, even with plates
that are 3 years old (both 36cm and 48cm plates). I do a acid/base wash of
plates maybe once or twice a year .
The only other thing we do is to get a double kim wipe lightly dipped in
isopropanol and give a hard scrub of the inner plate surface just before
pouring .This is something I was shown to do during our first 377 install
after we had continual gel pouring problems due to uneven gel front while
pouring , I do not know if this is a common practice or not but it works
for me.
I have to agree that there is a "mystery" factor to this problem that has
not been properly accounted for.
