We seem to do a crude method of washing compared to most but we don't have
problems with buildup or anything like that. We scrub the plates by hand
for a few minutes using the contrad 70 detergent. Until very recently we
were not even using hot water (we seem to be the last lab on the building
hot water line). I believe the contrad 70 has improved the washing because
when we were using the alconox we were getting many more hazes and red
rains, whereas now we rarely see any of that. Some of our plates are over
3 years old and need to be replaced soon but not because of being dirty,
but because they are getting chipped and scratched.
