Ken,
we are in the process of evaluating PDQuest (it can be purchased from
Bio-Rad) and Phoretix (available from Genomic Solutions), which, by all
accounts, appear to be the best packages available for PCs; we are not
looking at Unix software. I'll be happy to share with you and anyone else
interested our conclusions. By the way, the PDQuest package is available
for downloading for a 30 day evaluation, free of charge (apparently it
stops working after the 30 day period); it is fully functional, not a demo.
Check out the Bio-Rad web site or talk to the Bio-Rad sales rep for more
details on this, unfortunately I no longer have the download information
available. I believe Genomic Solutions offers a demo version of Phoretix,
I don't know if they will offer a fully functional version for evaluation.
