hi all,

thanks for the replies to my question of how to get rid of non-ionic
detergents. I've found in the past that one round of chloroform/methanol
precipitation (wessel and fl=FCgge) was enough to get rid of the SDS but =
not
the non-ionic detergent. Maybe its the way I do it !!. The way I solved i=
t
was to run the material on SDS-PAGE gel first, then do negative staining,
excise the band and elute (castellanos-serra et al) prior to chloroform :
methanol. It worked !! .

Does chloroform :methanol precipitation normally get rid of non-ionic
detergents along with SDS?

again many thanks
