One of the inventors of MALDI, Dr. Brian Chait from Rockefeller
University, has a list of matrices somewhere on the web. You can email
him directly and ask where exactly you can find this list or ask about
some other sources. His email address is chait@rockvax.rockefeller.edu.

Two other ideas:

1) there is a list of matrices on the web at the address
URL:128.222.10.3/MatrixDepot/introduction.html
I, however, have not been able to access this because it keeps timing out
on me.
2) Kratos Analytical makes the Kompact Maldi, as well as other mass spec.
instruments. You can search them on the web and ask them to send
you/email you the information you need under the "contact us" heading of
their homepage. We actually use the Kratos Maldi Kompact III here. The
matrices we use are: 2,5-Dihodroxybenzoic acid for small
molecules(peptides) with limited fragmentation;

alpha-Cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid for relatively
larger molecules(proteins) and may produce more fragmentation;

3,5-Dimethoxy-4-hydroxycinnamic acid(sinapinic acid)
for characteristics somewhere in between the previous compounds;

3-Hydrohypicolinic acid for nucleic acids;

2',4',6'-Trihydroxyacetophenone for nucleic acids;

6-Aza-2-thiothymine for nucleic acids.

Hope this helps,
