Here is a summary of the responses to my query about printing 4 color DNA
sequencer traces on non-Macintosh systems:
Within 48 hours there were 30 replies including some replies to responses to
replies to my message. Packages to accomplish the task included:
A. Chormas whether freeware (http://www.technelysium.com.au/chromas.html) or
purchased. There were different opinions about which version was preferred.
I have not tested them to formulate my own opinion.

B. Trev from the Staden package ported to windows
(http://www.mev-lmb.cam.ac.uk:80/pubseq/downloads.html#trev

C. ABIVIEW (http://www.users.cloud9.net/~dhk/abiview.html

D. PDF files viewed with Adobe Acrobat; see the Adobe web site. There were
several descriptions for creating the PDF files. Clark Riley offers the
following information: There are two elegant solutions for the conversion.
1. Select PDFWriter as your printer. Then print in the normal way. Your PDFs
will appear as "Untitled", "Untitled1", etc in the order they are printed.
Renaming would be quick, simple, and can be automated.
2. Distribute the electropherogram files and make sure your people have the
Free EditView software from PEBiosystems. Then each user has complete control
over everything.

Several programs are listed at http://seqcore.brcf.med.umich.edu/ftpdata.html

I have not separately credited the many individuals who responded but wish to
thank them collectively. I assume that the web sites properly credit the
authors of the packages more accurately than I can. I am sure that my
Russian colleague will benefit enormously from your generous contribution of
solutions.
