We are considering purchasing one of the high throughput Capillary
sequencers (such as the ABI 3700). One of the major considerations before we
can do this is how to automate the preparation of enough samples to feed the
machine.
The samples we use are generally PCRd up from ecoli colonies, cleaned (using
SAP/exo1 at the moment) and then sequenced using terminator chemistry.
Any suggestions/recomendations etc on how best to automate this process
would be much appreciated.
We have a colony picker capable of picking into 96 or 384 well plates so
that part should be ok (well in theory anyway). We currently have an ABI 877
robot which can cope with samples to supply our 377s but wouldnt even get
close to supplying for a 3700.
Thanks in advance
Simon
