One simple way, which may or may not be appropriate depending on any
subsequent assay, is to prepare a solution of 100 mM sodium acetate, 0.1% SDS
and 10 mM dithiothrietol. Add a few hundred ul to an excised spot and
agitate overnight at 37C.
