position.
Job Description:
A position is open in the Molecular & Cell Biology Section. The primary
responsibility of the position is generating DNA sequencing data.
Responsibilities include preparation of samples, pouring gels, operation of an
ABI 373 and a VGI OpenGene automated sequencer, computer analysis of primary
data, record keeping, data management, ordering supplies and general lab
maintenance. The position includes participation in the development of new
techniques and in testing new technologies. The applicant must be able to work
both independently and as part of a team, be detail oriented, possess good
communication skills, be experienced with computers, and be familiar with basic
molecular biology techniques. Experience in automated DNA sequencing is
preferred. A BS or MS degree in biology or chemistry or related science and at
least 1-2 years lab experience are required.
