I understand that BioRad has a new instrument called the iCycler
which has a base unit and a "Real time Module" that is much less expensive
and claims to use a "unique open-platform system that uses a broad-band
lamp and multiple excitation and
emmision filters to cut off ANY fluor or probe system of choice."
