Jaime,

It is certainly possible to silver stain IEF gels, since there are
commercial kits available.

As an alternative, Molecular Probes makes a product "SYPRO Ruby IEF",
which apparently has sensitivity and a dynamic range that exceeds
silver staining, plus is simpler to use. All you need is a UV box to
visual the stained gel. (info at www.probes.com/syprodyes).
(note that I haven't yet tested this dye myself , although I have
been very happy with other Molecular Probes products)
