Dear Chris,

we do the upload with Fetch 3.0.3, a Mac shareware program which is
working very well in our hands. It can be driven by AppleScript (I
think - the standard download includes examples), but for us this was
not required since most of the operations required are possible from
the programs menue.

The NCBI has developed a tool called "WebBLAST2" which includes a
MacPerl Module which does automatic upload, but in this case there is
a tricky file/folder sturcture in the back on the UNIX side.

I dont know if helpful for you, but with regard to naming we use a
UNIX script to work with 3700-(NT)-files on our Macs for data
analysis. See
http://www.mpiz-koeln.mpg.de/~weisshaa/Adis/DNA-software-links.html
for details.

In case that you get other replys which offer solutions for your
problem I would be be very much interested in these tools.

Best regards, Bernd
