Hi Emily,

If you don't mind, I will take this opportunity to plug one of our activities.

The DNA Sequencing Research Group will be conducting a general survey of
DNA sequencing cores as part of our 2000 study. The results will be
presented at ABRF 2000 in our research group presentation. We conducted a
similar study in 1997-98 and reported the results at the 1998 ABRF meeting.
Although these results are more recent than the 1996 study you mention,
they are outdated and no longer give an accurate representation of the
composition and configuration of the average DNA sequencing lab. The DSRG
intends to conduct this type of study every two years so that members
always have access to up to date information. The general survey will be
formally announced in two weeks so stay tuned here for details.
