I have seen wonderful 2D separations of histones with Acid-Urea-Triton
(AUT) gels in
the first dimension ( modified from Zweidler A , Method Cell Biol (1978)
17, 223 )
The electrophoresis was very sensitive to charge (modifications), cys
modification and I believe some
aminoacid substitutions
