In response to Bill Mahn's reply (he being in a good position to know) I'd
maybe back off a little on the extent of my cleaning.
One might try the approach he indicates (that the main contamination is not
in the probe) and clean only the spray shield and cap. heater area. If that
does not solve the problem then one might implement the more extensive
approach that I originally suggested. I never did a 100% rigorous test of
the origin of the ultramark. I mostly wanted it gone and gone fast. That
led me to develop my approach. I'd still use a sep. syringe and transfer
line for ultramark. Skip the probe rinse steps unless it proves mandatory.
