Protein & Nucleic Acid Chemistry Facility Technician

Applications are invited for the full time post of Technician to join a
team in the Protein and Nucleic Acid Chemistry Facility which offers
important support and services to many research groups throughout the
University. The principal services in the Facility include mass
spectrometry amino acid composition analysis of peptides and proteins,
peptide and oligonucleotide synthesis, protein and peptide sequence
analysis, peptide purification, and capillary electrophoresis. The
successful applicant will have a principle responsibility in the areas of
mass spectrometry and oligomer synthesis, but there will be an opportunity
to gain experience in other aspects of Facility operations.

Practical experience in any of the above areas and in the operation of
liquid chromatographic instrumentation is desirable. The post is available
immediately for a period of 2 years, in the first instance and, subject to
the availability of funding, may be renewed for a further period or
periods. Applicants should possess HBTEC or equivalent technical
qualifications with relevant experience.

Salary in the range £13,595 - £16,721 for qualified appointees. Lower
scales may apply for a limited period where training is required.
