Field: genetic impact of fishery stock enhancement upon natural
populations.
Deadline: as soon as possible for 2000, several months later for 2001.
Dear,
I am now planning a new research project dealing with genetic impact of
fishery stock enhancement upon natural populations using mtDNA and
microsatellite markers. To carry out this project, I am seeking a
candidate of research fellow supported by the STA fellowship of Japan
(long-term up to 2 years). A post-doctoral (including PhD candidate)
student majoring on some population genetics or DNA studies is welcome.
English or Japanese speaking is a requirement.
After the selection of candidates by JST (a peripheral agency of STA),
the selected fellows can get the fellowship supports. Conditions for
getting supports are available from
<http://stafellow.jst.go.jp/>.
The selection may be very much competitive, and I cannot ensure the
approval. I should also state that other labs in our institute are also
seeking candidates, so an initial screening within my lab and in our
institute is also possible. However, I will pay my best efforts to
assist the candidate to be get approved by JST, if you passed our
initial screening.
At present my lab has all facilities necessary for above mentioned
research activities, including a cloning facility, an ABI373S (36 lanes
with GeneScan), etc. Also our institute has other important facilities
including fishing boats, research vessel (690t), TEM, SEM, HPLC, high
performance UNIX servers, etc.
The deadline for 2000 fellowship in our institute is the end of this
year. If you wish to apply for 2000 fellowship, the situation is urgent,
and please send an e-mail as soon as possible. You can also apply for
2001 fellowship.
Sincerely,
Kenji Saitoh
