Hi
I'm not surprised that your regular cable doesn't work. When we
installed our 373 a few years ago we needed to have a custom 30 ft cable
made up by a local company, Alberta Computer Cable Inc.
(www.accinc.ab.ca). I don't have the original specifications, but maybe
you can get them from ABI. My old invoice listed the cable as a "Mac to
HS modem w/handshake".
