Request for ABRF Funds to Support an External Scientific Meeting

The ABRF Executive Board is anxious to support portions of external scientific meetings to promote the cause of the ABRF.  Examples of participation are: a session at a meeting, a booth, a Research Group presentation, or a poster presentation.  The following criteria should be used to assess  whether an application  should be submitted.

• An opportunity to stimulate significant new scientific dialogue

• An opportunity to provide expert presenters in areas not normally represented by the requesting society

• A significant overlap of the meeting or session with the goals of the ABRF

• An opportunity to present a discussion of the ABRF meetings, goals, research groups, or other activities, to meeting attendees

• An opportunity to support or discuss issues around the function of biomolecular core facilities

To request funds, please download and fill out the second page of the document, in coordination with a member of the Executive Board of the ABRF and email the form to the member who will present this proposal to the EB for approval.

If an award is made, we request that the ABRF be mentioned in the program as a co-organizer or session supporter. We also request that the recipients submit a follow-up report that contains,

• The number of attendees at the meeting and at the sponsored session

• A copy of the program

• An email list of attendees, if possible, of the session or meeting

• Bonus points for a review of the meeting suitable for publication in the JBT.

The award will be made upon receipt of the follow-up report.

If you have any questions about this procedure, contact the ABRF Business Office at abrf@abrf.org.

How much money is being requested?

The funds will be used to?  E.g. defray travel expenses and/or registration, poster printing expenses?

Are any of the persons for whom the support is requested members of the ABRF?

This would be nice, but is not a requirement.
