Director of Research Service Facility, Genome Research Core - University of Illinois at Chicago

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for the position of Director of Research Service Facility, Genome Research Core. This position provides scientific leadership, management and day-to-day operations oversight of the Genome Research Core (GRC) in the Research Resource Center (RRC), which provides a centralized resource for high throughput technologies including instrumentation and expertise for gene targeting and editing approaches to cell lines and animal models, and for DNA, RNA and chromatin analyses including from bulk samples or single cells. Senior Research Scientist – Proteomics/Metabolomics| The Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMI) - ARMI BioFab USA
 
The Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMI) is an industry-led public-private partnership that was created to address the technical and workforce development challenges associated with the scalable, consistent, cost-effective manufacture of tissue engineered medical products (TEMPs). As part of its technical effort, ARMI is developing the Tissue Foundry, a scalable, modular, automated, and closed manufacturing platform with which it will support the development of scalable TEMP manufacturing processes according to Quality by Design (QbD) principles. A key component of QbD-based process development for TEMPs will be the Deep Tissue Characterization Center (DTCC) capable of deep cell and tissue characterization of in-process and final product samples via analytical techniques. Position Description:  ARMI is in need of a Research Scientist to carry out projects applying mass spectrometry-based analytical platforms to the deep characterization of a variety of cell types and TEMPs for the identification of Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs). CQAs will ensure appropriate product quality is maintained when transitioning existing manual tissue engineering processes to scalable, modular, automated, and closed manufacturing processes. The Research Scientist projects may include development of novel proteomic and metabolomic technologies or application of existing technology to address current challenges and may entail mass spectrometric analysis of cell lines, tissue samples, and conditioned culture media. The ideal candidate should be familiar with the entire metabolomics and/or proteomics pipeline (including sample preparation, LC and MS operation, data analysis) and must be able to conduct independent and creative research. The Research Scientist will work cross-functionally both internally and externally with Data Analysts. The position reports to the Director of the DTCC.

Lab Director/Manager - FOXO Technologies

FOXO Technologies runs an in silico lab that processes DNA methylation microarrays using state-of-the-art bioinformatics to deliver high quality and cost-effective epigenetic data. We contract outside high throughput labs for sample receipt and wet lab processing. This position is responsible for the project management of projects from various customers (internal and external to the company). In addition, the Lab Director/Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality and timely turnaround of data to customers. Qualified candidates will have extensive experience with the Illumina Infinium DNA methylation BeadArray protocols and bioinformatic processing (e.g., Genome Studio as well as open-source packages) is required. We are seeking a Staff Scientist who will help with daily operations at the IDDRC Cellular Imaging core, an active and growing shared-use microscopy facility in the F.M. Kirby Neurobiology Research Center at Boston Children’s Hospital. This core serves the imaging needs of more than 70 laboratories in Boston Children’s Hospital and the Longwood medical area. This is a full-time position. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with an interest in a career in biological sciences and/or core sciences who enjoy working collaboratively with other scientists and in teams. Candidates should be highly motivated, organized and have strong analytic skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic. Experience with optics or microscopy is required. They should have a Masters or an engineering degree with 7 or more years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 4 or more years of relevant experience. A strong academic background in math, physics, optics, science, engineering, neurobiology or biology is preferred. Immediate job start.

Metabolite Profiling Core Facility Manager/Director - Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research

Oversee the operation of a state-of-the-art facility consisting of targeted and untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics platforms using high-resolution, accurate-mass, liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC/MS). Director of Research Service Facility, Genome Research Core - RRC - University of Chicago

This position provides scientific leadership, management and day-to-day operations oversight of the Genome Research Core (GRC) in the Research Resource Center (RRC), which provides a centralized resource for high throughput technologies including instrumentation and expertise for gene targeting and editing approaches to cell lines and animal models, and for DNA, RNA and chromatin analyses including from bulk samples or single cells. Approaches include using sequencing, genotyping, real-time PCR, next-generation sequencing library generation, next-generation sequencing, nucleic acid extraction and QC for RNA/DNA/proteins, and miRNA/hnRNA gene expression analyses. The position advises the VCR and RRC Operations Director for the GRC, and provides technical expertise to facility users in research consultation, service and training.

Responsibilities include 12 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometers with operating frequencies ranging from 400 MHz to 800 MHz, include Varian/Agilent and Bruker models, and are used for small-molecule, macromolecular and solid-state sample analysis. Activities include training instrument users, creating documentation, performing calibrations, diagnosing and solving instrument problems, as well as scheduling and assisting CBIC staff with instrument maintenance tasks including cryogen fills.

Yale University - Cryo EM Facility Manager

Yale has an immediate opening for a Cryo-EM Facility Manager/Director at either the Associate Research Scientist or Research Scientist level. The successful candidate will provide scientific leadership, management, and day-to-day operation of Yale University’s new Yale Science Building (YSB) Cryo-EM Facility. The incumbent will collaborate with and support researchers from across the campus by providing support and guidance in experimental design, sample preparation, data collection, and computational image analysis.

The YSB facility houses a newly installed Glacios microscope equipped with a Gatan K2 camera and a Talos L120C microscope. Additional space in the facility is ready for the addition of two Krios microscopes and another support instrument, such as cryo-FIB. The YSB facility joins other resources at the university housing Titan Krios, Glacios, Tecnai and Aquilos instruments.
